SmartPlug Systems has named Tony Barber as its new CEO. Barber replaces founder Ken Smith as the company’s top executive, who remains on to serve as senior executive officer and active board member. Smith began the company in 2007.

Barber brings over 37 years of innovative manufacturing expertise to SmartPlug. Most recently, he worked for Thetford. During his eight-year tenure there, he advanced from marine market manager to director of marine and residential sales. He then became global business unit manager, responsible for residential business strategy, sales and marketing.

“Tony has a broad knowledge of the marine, RV, specialty vehicle, and industrial marketplaces,” said Smith. “His deep understanding of sales and marketing, coupled with his technical background, promise an exciting future for SmartPlug as we explore new opportunities.”

Seattle, Washington-based SmartPlug Systems manufactures safe alternatives to standard AC power connections. The company designs and builds state-of-the-art electrical adapters, connectors, cordsets and inlets for use in a wide range of applications. Its products are CE certified, and its 30A and 50A inlets and connectors are ETL certified.
