Mercury Marine, the global leader in marine propulsion, today announced that effective immediately Marty Bass has been appointed President – EMEA Mercury Marine.

Bass, who previously was vice president of Mercury’s product category management group based at Mercury headquarters in Fond du Lac, succeeds Mike Shedivy, who has lead EMEA – Mercury Marine since 2013.   Shedivy will join Life Fitness, another unit of Brunswick Corporation (NYSE: BC), as its vice president – global commercial category management and product development.

“Marty’s intimate knowledge of our strategy, product plans and technology make him an ideal choice to continue the strong momentum Mercury has in the EMEA region,” said Pfeifer.  “He has worked closely with our EMEA team over the years to help design and launch products critical to our strategy in these important markets, and will continue to drive engine, part and accessory growth for our business.”

“After collaborating with the EMEA team in my former role, I’m eager to work more closely with them and our dealers and distributors as we continue to extend our leadership in engines and the parts & accessories business in this vital region,” Bass said.

Bass, who joined Mercury Marine in 2006, holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois;  a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy’s postgraduate school as well as an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
