Recreational Paddling Safety and Awareness Programs seeking lively boating partners for mutually beneficial community outreach and safety partnerships!

For those who have yet to encounter it, PaddleSmart is a free, activity based presentation for new paddlers of any age, wanting to learn about water and paddle sport safety. Whether you are new to paddling or you have lots of experience, PaddleSmart is a good fit for those interested in learning more about how to be safer out there by being aware and being prepared.

The PaddleSmart is the award winning presentation developed as a partnership between Paddle Canada, Canada’s national paddle sports training organization, AdventureSmart – the Canada-wide initiative to help people “get informed and go outdoors, and partially funded by the Canadian Government. PaddleSmart is a free information / education session promoting healthy, active living in our beautiful country while decreasing the number and severity of search and rescue incidents.

Paddle Canada is looking for organizations wanting to host sessions, email contact information to events@paddlecanada.com to find out more! Experienced boaters interested in training as a PaddleSmart presenter for their organization and/or community should register at www.adventuresmart.ca.

National Paddling Week, Which began as a week created to boost awareness of our national recreational paddling sports, safety measures, skill development, and heritage four years ago has expanded to include!

National Paddling Week is paired with PaddleSmart and is an annual extended week celebrating of all things paddle! National Paddling Week shines a spotlight on our national commitment to the fun, the benefits, and challenge of paddling! The website offers a year round paddler and event support hub created to encourage as many Canadians to get into a canoe, kayak or onto a board!

Community based clubs, groups, organizations and/or individuals are invited to host their own events and activities during National Paddling Week – and after! These events can be posted for free on the national website, and featured in tweets, on the face book page and cross promoted by our National Paddling Week partners.

Looking to raise youth awareness and funding for your programs/events? National Paddling Week and PaddleSmart also offers your organization a Life Jacket Challenge project which allows you to conduct a community life jacket marathon and raise money for your local search and rescue or children’s water sport charity. Want to join the fun, challenge a coworkers, or simply know more? Contact events@paddlecanada.com or visit www.paddleweek.ca.
