Canadian School at Sea Releases Incredible Tall Ship Sailing Itinerary for Upcoming Academic Year

Class Afloat, an experiential education program open to students from around the world, will begin its 2017-2018 school year on September 10th in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Students will return to Amsterdam after a 9 month adventure and academic year at sea.

Class Afloat students complete a full year of academics aboard the Gulden Leeuw, a majestic 230-foot tall ship, stopping at 20 ports during their 9 months at sea.

Highlights of the 2017-2018 school year include: an overnight and camel safari in the Moroccan dessert; a tour of the Mediterranean with stops in Italy, Portugal, France and Spain; a visit to the unique semi-autonomous indigenous ruled islands of San Blas (Panama); a journey through ports in Central America; parent ports in Malaga (Spain) and Havana (Cuba); homestays and voluntary service projects in Senegal and Dominican Republic.

About Class Afloat

Class Afloat- West Island College International is a Canadian private school, based in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, offering fully accredited senior high school, university, and GAP Year programs. The school was founded in 1984 in support of the UN International Youth Year, under the themes of Peace, Participation and Development.

The Gulden Leeuw is a Dutch-flagged ship with a classic design hull from 1937. It was completely redesigned and rebuilt in 2010 and sails with a professional mariner crew of seven.
