BOATING ONTARIO – CREDIT CARD FRAUD ALERT

Boating Ontario

Aug 29, 2017

Boating Ontario members recently received a notice from CEO Rick Layzell alerting them to a problem with Credit Card Fraud. According to Layzell, there is a group of thieves out there targeting marine businesses. They are known to call marina staff to order parts, provide a credit card number for payment, arrange a courier / driver to pick up the parts and then the card is cancelled when you try to transact the sale. The police have advised one Boating Ontario member that this group seems to engage in locales where there are casinos in the area. Layzell advises marinas to take time to ensure they have the right process in place with their parts teams to ensure no further marinas get stung by this group.

50th Anniversary Boating Ontario Celebration & Conference

Boating Ontario also advises the industry to look for an email on or before September 15th when final details about the plans for an awesome 50th Anniversary Celebration and Conference will be formally released. The association looks forward to seeing all their members and guests at Blue Mountain November 26 – 28th.
