On Friday May 3rd, the winner of the 2019 Toronto International Boat Show’s “Buy a Boat & Win $10,000” contest received their cheque at Gordon Bay Marine in MacTier, ON.

Jason & Lori Hunt of Cambridge, ON,  Lake Huron boaters, bought a 16’ Bayliner Element at the recent TIBS show and the $10,000 went towards the purchase of their boat. 
 
The Buy a Boat & Win contest creates incentive for consumers to finalize boat purchases before the end of the show.  As well, the program helps to generate sales statistics.  Accuracy of the numbers provided on boats sold at the show (711) is reliant on exhibitor participation in the program.

STUDENTS’ PERCEPTIONS OF MARINE CAREERS PROVIDE INSIGHT INTO WORKFORCE CHALLENGES

 

COVEDespite the recent growth and attention on the marine industry in Nova Scotia, a new study by the Centre for Ocean Ventures & Entrepreneurship (COVE) finds that interest in career opportunities among students remains low.
 
The Student Intentions and Perceptions Study found that only 12% of grade 6-12 English, French, and Mi’kmaq Kina’matneway students in Nova Scotia are interested in the career opportunities in the marine industry.
