PORTS The Cruising Guides have been acquired from Metroland Printing Publishing & Distributing Ltd by the parent company that publishes Canadian Yachting. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Since 1984, PORTS The Cruising Guides have been the cruising boater’s essential companion providing the much needed information on where to dock, what to do, where to eat, where to find fuel, where to shop, where to anchor and where to find the best deals on groceries and supplies.

“Our team at Canadian Yachting is thrilled to have the opportunity to bring PORTS The Cruising Guides into our media mix and we are keen to get started”, commented Greg Nicoll Canadian Yachting’s Publisher.

“It’s a perfect fit for us in so many ways; we can integrate the promotion, distribution, book sales and augment these great books with our complementary content leveraging our extensive library of destinations articles and profiles while capitalizing on our extensive online capabilities,” added Jill Snider a member of the Canadian Yachting team.

PORTS The Cruising Guides include detailed navigational information and detailed aerial photos through the Ontario waterways. It includes complete lock-by-lock travel information with GPS coordinates and contact numbers and shows boaters where to stop, where to find fuel, where to eat and where to restock the galley, while its handy distance chart makes it easy to plan your voyage.

PORTS The Cruising Guides are published in four editions: Lake Ontario & the Thousand Islands; Georgian Bay, the North Channel & Lake Huron, the Rideau Canal & the Ottawa River and The Trent-Severn Waterway & Lake Simcoe. With the purchase, Canadian Yachting has also purchased the manuscripts and documentation rights to produce a Lake Erie Guide.

The reputation and uniqueness of the PORTS brand goes back to the founder, Steve Manley, who founded PORTS The Cruising Guides in 1984 with his unique style and insight. The whole Canadian Yachting Team is committed to maintaining his vison and the guides in providing neat tips and tricks and quality information. Many have said PORTS The Cruising Guides is like having your own private concierge, everywhere you go.

PORTS The Cruising Guides joins the leading media platforms serving the recreational boating segment in Canada including Canadian Yachting Magazine, Canadian Yachting Onboard newsletter, canadianyachting.ca , the Toronto International Boat Show Guide, the Vancouver International Boat Show Guide and the B2B platform, Boating Industry Canada, News Week and www.boatingindustry.ca.
