April 14th, 2020 – “We all hope to be very busy in the coming months and Boating Ontario felt it was necessary to postpone our spring golf tournament. We are pleased to confirm that the Boating Ontario Annual Golf Tournament will now take place on Wednesday, September 9th. A delayed start will give the industry time to reset, to experience summer and to gather in September to celebrate all that we do.” says Rick Layzell, Boating Ontario CEO.

The tournament will be hosted at Innisbrook Golf Club in Barrie. When discussing moving the date, Innisbrook Event Coordinator Jessica Morris said “we’re very excited to have the Boating Ontario golf tournament return to Innisbrook Golf Course. It’s always a great day filled with lots of laughter and fun. We’re looking forward to a fantastic event and can’t wait to see everyone again.”

The Boating Ontario Golf Tournament is a key supporter of the MarineWorx Development Fund, as well as Ontario Sailing’s. Proceeds from the tournament will help fund both initiatives.

The MarineWorx Development Fund is an industry funded, education focused program designed for all members, of all sizes, in all markets. The purpose of MarineWorx is to reinvest in our industry by providing bursaries, scholarships and discounts to members and member employees on education programs & courses.

Ontario Sailing’s Able Sail program allows young individuals dealing with a disability the chance to sail. Glenn Lethbridge, the Executive Director of Ontario Sailing, values the partnership between Ontario Sailing and Boating Ontario, saying “on behalf of the Board, staff and most importantly the sailors involved in our Able Sail program we would like to thank Boating Ontario, its members, those that golf in the tournament and also those that sponsor it.”

Layzell closed by saying, “We look forward to brighter days ahead and to celebrating life with you in September!”
