Description & Scope of Work: Responsibilities include diagnostic and repair of outboard motors, rigging of new and used motors on boats, rigging of accessories including depth finders, electric trolling motors, bilge pumps, electric anchors and more.

Qualifications & Compensation: At least 5 years of outboard motor repairs or equivalent. We lake-test our products, so a valid Boater’s License is required. Certified Outboard Motor Mechanic preferred.

Compensation will range from $60K - $80K for the ideal candidate.

Description & Scope of Work: Brandy’s Cove is currently looking to expand our team. We are looking for a knowledgeable Marine Mechanic. Brandy’s Cove is a fast paced, full-service marina located in beautiful Honey Harbour on Georgian Bay.  This position requires marine mechanical experience, positive attitude and a strong work ethic as well as working well with others, problem solving and reliability. Qualifications & Compensation:

  • Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and successfully repair them
  • Maintain time records on work orders
  • Experience with both gas and diesel engines
  • Minimum 2 years work experience on maintenance of small equipment, gasoline and diesel marine engines

Position: Dock Hand (4 Positions available)

Location: Brandy’s Cove Yachting Centre, Honey Harbour, Georgian Bay, ON

Description & Scope of Work: Responsible for the safe mooring of vessels and general operations of the dock by facilitating and assisting in coordinating the arrival and departure of vessels, maintaining a safe and clean environment and acting as a liaison between customers and the marina management team. The candidate must be comfortable around boats and large bodies of water. Schedule: TBD (Mid-April to October) (Students weekends only during school year)

Qualifications & Compensation:

-Must work evening and weekends

-Welcome slip holders and/or transients in a manner which expresses a kind, courteous and professional manner

-Provides the highest level of customer and guest services, expedites requested from vessels including dock cart delivery/ice/baggage to and from dockside

-Maintain and clean restrooms, docks, walkways, ramp ways, grounds, equipment and other areas designated by the marina manager

-Preform daily trash removal and dispose of as directed

-A positive attitude combined with the ability to communicate fluently and relate well to customers in a leisure environment

-Ability to use a VHF radio or willing to learn

-Assists in marina related duties such as securing boats to docks, connecting and utility services (power and water), black water pump out and facility sanitation

-Maintains a clean personal appearance including, but not limited to personal hygiene and clean and orderly attire

Description and scope of work: At this time, we need to add a fully qualified and certified marine technician to our busy repair shop.   We are looking for someone with at least 10 years experience in Evinrude or Mercury outboards, and Mercruiser stern drives.  This position is full time, year round with a wage rate of $30/hour for the right candidate.

This position also entails leading and instructing service school attendees on Mercury products in the Moncton area.

Description and scope of work:

Our Captains lead the daily operation of the vessel with a focus on safety, security and creating amazing guest experiences. During the shoulder season and outside of our operating season, the Captain may assist with maintenance and repair projects to vessels and facilities, and other special projects as directed. A flexible schedule is a must. Schedule includes evenings, weekends, holidays and some overtime.

  • As the Master in command of the vessel, safely operates the vessel with due regard for the Hornblower Niagara Cruises (HNC) Safety Management System (SMS) and ISO Respect Management System, the Vessel Security Plan, proper Standards of Watch keeping and in accordance with the practice of good seamanship
    · Acts as a role model; directly supervises the Mate, Deckhands, and other crew members
    · Coaches and teaches crew members to assist them in their professional development
    · Routinely inspects all areas of the vessel for unsafe conditions, performs accident investigations, files accident investigation reports and makes safety announcements to ensure the safety and comfort of the crew and passengers
    · Routinely conducts and records emergency drills
    · Maintains vessel operations and maintenance logs
    · Leads daily training talks set forth by the ISO, Safety Management System and Vessel Security Plan
    · Ensures that every person who is employed in a position onboard has the required Canadian maritime documents

    Minimum qualifications:
    · Master 150 Gross Tonnage, Domestic
    · Small Vessel Machinery Operator (Training provided)
    · Current Marine Advanced First Aid
    · Current (within previous two (2) years) Transport Canada approved medical

LOWER LOCK GATE PAINTING - FENELON FALLS LOCK 34, TRENT-SEVERN WATERWAY NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE

Fenelon Falls LockAs a part of an historic investment program along the Trent-Severn Waterway, the lower lock gates at Fenelon Falls Lock 34 were painted this winter. Painting and routine maintenance helps to extend the life span oflock gates by protecting against rusting, corrosion, and natural wear. This work has now been completed. The site has now been turned over to Parks Canada maintenance teams once again, to complete seasonal maintenance tasks in advance of the opening of the navigation season on May 18, 2018. CANADIAN BOATING WRITER JONATHAN LEE HOSPITALIZED

Jonathan LeeWe were saddened last week to learn that well-known Canadian boating writer Jonathan Lee has been hospitalized following a severe stroke. The former editor of Boatguide, Boating Business and Ports Cruising Guides remains in critical care at Hamilton General Hospital, where it is hoped he will ultimately make a full recovery. Industry colleagues may send cards care of the Hamilton General Hospital stroke unit. In lieu of flowers, donations on Jonathan’s behalf to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
