MERCURY PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE APP WINS EXCELLENCE AWARD

Mercury Product App

The Mercury Marine Product Knowledge App recently won an award for “Excellence in the Mobile Apps for Business” category from The Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts based in New York. Leading app designer Jester Communications received the award for designing the interactive, information-packed iPad app with Robin Senger, Mercury Marine global product training manager. The app launched in spring 2014.

“Our strategic development of the Product Knowledge App with Jester Communications affords Mercury the opportunity to activate our sales force in a digital, mobile-friendly way,” said Randy Caruana, Mercury Marine vice president, North/Central America, and Asia Pacific. “This powerful app fulfills the dual purpose of educating our field staff and dealers’ sales teams, and helping those same dealers sell more engines.”

The user-friendly app is rich with practical features, including an innovative price estimator, with the intention to grow Mercury dealers’ businesses and sales and make it easier for them to sell repower engines.

“It’s the right app at the right time,” Senger said, referencing the current U.S. consumer, who is hyper-informed and relies on mobile shopping to research and make purchase decisions before interacting with a salesperson.

The app contains four distinct features: (1) Production Information, containing specifications and features, and advantages;  (2) Images & Videos of the products; (3) Sales Information Materials, such as sell sheets, performance bulletins and more, all of which can be emailed directly to the consumer from the app while discussing the product, and; (4) Pricing a Re-power, the aforementioned price estimator.

The Product Information available on the app provides large, high-resolution photos and interactive technology, allowing for 3-D viewing and easy swiping between the photo and spec sheets.

“It’s yet another way to keep the product in front of the consumer,” Senger said.
