VESCONITE DIVERSIFIES WITH NEW 5-AXIS CNC MILL

Vesconite CNC Mill

Apr 8, 2017

Vesconite, global leader in engineered marine thermoplastics, has purchased a state-of-the-art Haas VF-11 5-axis vertical CNC machining center. It will produce complex parts from the company’s polymers, Vesconite and VesconiteHilube, and offer boatbuilders a wide range of design options to integrate into their projects.

While Vesconite is renowned in the commercial marine market for its rudder, stern tube and other bearings, it has quickly made a name for itself in the recreational sector. It manufactures daggerboard trunks and rudder housings for numerous high-performance foiling sailboat builders, including HH Catamarans.

Vesconite is self-lubricating and has no stick-slip, making it perfect for components that are often difficult to access. The polymer has exceptional wear properties, even under severe load. It offers extreme dimensional stability and will machine to tolerances of +/-0.001″.

The Haas VF-11 will enable Vesconite to easily set up complex machining projects and it’s fast, so it will dramatically reduce lead times. It has an XYZ axis size of 120″ x 40″ x 30″ to accommodate large pieces of material.
