Yannick MadiotGeorge Armendariz, CEO of Groupe Beneteau Americas, announced today the appointment of Yannick Madiot as the Group’s new Chief Operating Officer for North America, effective since April 1st, 2019.

Yannick Madiot is no stranger to Groupe Beneteau as he served as VP of Finance and Administration for Beneteau USA from 2002-2010.

“We are very excited to have Yannick back on board with us as we continue to grow our brands to new height’s on this side of the Atlantic” said Armendariz.
Major responsibilities for Madiot will include supervision of American support activities, including IT, Human Resources, and Finance. In addition, he will provide oversight to the Group’s production facilities in Marion, SC and Cadillac, MI.

With a BA in Finance from French business school ESC de Compiègne and an MBA in Services Differentiation and Innovation from HEC, Yannick Madiot brings expertise in strategic support and operational management for industrial businesses. After 8 years with Groupe Beneteau in the USA, he returned to France in 2010 and joined the WEIR Group, an industrial equipment manufacturer, as Finance Director for France then EMEA, before being appointed Managing Director of the Safety Valves, within Weir Flow Control, in January 2013.

RETALIATORY TARIFFS ON US-MADE BOATS HAVE BEEN REMOVED

NMMA Canada and the Canadian Marine Trades Associations have been advised by the Government of Canada that effective April 30, 2019, all retaliatory tariffs on U.S. recreational boats entering Canada have been removed, marking the most positive development for our industry since this concerning issue first emerged.

The Canadian Marine Trade Associations have been advised that earlier this week, the Canadian government approved the "Order Amending the United States Surtax Order (Other Goods),"

ICOMIA SUPERYACHT REFIT GROUP REACHES TEN-YEAR ANNIVERSARY

ICOMIA Refit GroupIn early May, the ICOMIA Superyacht Refit Group were hosted by MB92 Barcelona, for the biennial meeting of the group. This marked the ten-year anniversary since the first meeting of group, which was also initiated in Barcelona. 

The ICOMIA Superyacht Refit Group represents quality refit, repair and maintenance yards and aim to collectively improve quality within the group, follow professional working standards and meet specified environmental best practices. The group has produced documents such as the Code of Practice and the ICOMIA Superyacht Refit Standard Framework Contract which aim to improve certainty in refits.

2019 TORONTO INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW’S “BUY A BOAT & WIN $10,000” CHEQUE PRESENTED

On Friday May 3rd, the winner of the 2019 Toronto International Boat Show’s “Buy a Boat & Win $10,000” contest received their cheque at Gordon Bay Marine in MacTier, ON.

Jason & Lori Hunt of Cambridge, ON,  Lake Huron boaters, bought a 16’ Bayliner Element at the recent TIBS show and the $10,000 went towards the purchase of their boat.
