Canadian Yachting Presents: “Safety For Sea” at PCYC, Sponsored by Chubb Insurance

Captain Eric Hill of Royal Canadian Air Force Maritime Helicopter Tactics will be providing an informative and possibly life-saving presentation on Safety at Sea at the Port Credit Yacht Club, Monday, November 19, 2012 at 7PM.  It is open to the general public, but space is limited.
 
Captain Eric Hill is a yacht training and safety consultant.  He is the offshore training skipper for the Royal Canadian Navy and holds a commercial endorsement for sailing vessels to 200 gt and is a qualified RYA/CYA radar, diesel, and commercial Yachtmaster instructor.   In addition to being one of only two Yachtmaster Instructors in Canada, he is an endorsed ISAF Sea Survival instructor for offshore racing and is a qualified Advanced Medical First Responder.
 
His sailing background is complemented by two decades of knowledge and experience as a Military Officer in the maritime domain.  Trained as an Air Navigator he commanded missions aboard Sea King helicopters flying from warships in operational, humanitarian, and high seas rescue missions in five of the world’s oceans prior to becoming a subject matter expert in the field of operational test and evaluation quantifying systems risk and human performance above, on and below the sea.
 
In 2010 the Nova Scotia Yachting the Association named him Male Sailor of the Year by for outstanding contribution to the sport of sailing. In 2011 he participated in Transport Canada’s revision of safety requirements for pleasure craft used for commercial purposes.
