Full Agenda Released for IMI’s Fall Workshop “Marina Makeover: An Interactive experience”

A detailed schedule for IMI’s fall workshop “Marina Makeover: An Interactive experience” scheduled for October 21–22, 2012, and the annual Southeast Florida Marina and Boatyard Study Tour scheduled for October 23–24, 2012, is now available on the Association of Marina Industries’ (AMI) website. The events, organized by the International Marina Institute (IMI), a subsidiary of AMI, are being held at the Renaissance Boca Raton in Boca Raton, Florida.

Marina Makeover: An Interactive Experience is based on the same proven methods IMI uses in its Advanced Marina Management courses to train hundreds of Certified Marina Managers (CMMs) worldwide. At this workshop, attendees will choose one of five existing marina facilities from different parts of the United States and work in small, facilitated teams to perform a case study. The teams will then redesign those facilities, thereby increasing the participants’ overall ability to design, upgrade, and maintain marina facilities. Each group will present their findings and suggestions to the rest of the workshop participants.

IMI's Southeast Florida Marina and Boatyard Study Tour is a mobile classroom that takes students on tours of seven leading marinas over the course of two days. Marinas this year include Hinckley, Sailfish Marina in Stuart and Palm Beach, Sunset Bay, American Custom Yachts, River Forest Yachting Center, Loggerhead Marina, Rybovich Superyacht Facility, and Riviera Beach Marina. At the end of each day, industry expert Jim Bronstien will lead a facilitated discussion and SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats).

For the full agenda for each event, visit www.marinaassociation.org/training/conferences-meetings, and click on either “Marina Makeover: An Interactive Experience” or “Southeast Florida Marina and Boatyard Study Tour.” Here, you’ll find a link to the full schedule as well as a registration form and further information about the events. Please contact IMI at (401) 247-0314 with any questions.

Four Winns’ new H9 is stunning!

CMRA

About a month ago, I traveled to Charlevoix, MI for a special press event to introduce the H9 to a small group of journalists. This is a 29-foot 11-inch luxury day boat with a 9- foot 2-inch beam and it features a fabulous expansive flat floor all the way from the bow rider area to the transom and the swim platform.
