41st Annual Newport International Boat Show

The 41st Annual Newport International Boat Show is scheduled to run Thursday to Sunday, September 15 to 18, 2011 at the Newport Waterfront, Newport, Rhode Island along America’s Cup Avenue.

Hopes are high for this year’s Newport International Boat Show, one of the four largest in-water boat shows in the country.   Each year it is filled with both power and sail boats displayed over 13 acres along America’s Cup Avenue. This year is no exception, with organizers expecting some 750 exhibitors with over 600 boats ranging in size from 16 to 100 feet, plus, kayaks, inflatables, services, equipment and accessories of all types.

Also, the producers of the Newport International Boat Show will once again present “Newport for New Products™ ” — the official venue for U.S. debuts of all new boats and boating products.  This is an industry-wide promotion that recognizes the best that’s being introduced for the 2012 model year at the Newport International Boat Show. Show visitors can look for the red and blue balloons signifying a new product/boat throughout the show.

SAIL FOR PRIDE will be this year’s charitable partner for NIBS.  A group of sailors, lead by Scott Murray, Mick Harvey and Brad Read started this regatta days after the 9/11 attack.  Their prime purpose was to raise money to support the victims and their families. And indeed they succeeded in raising over $110,000. Over the past nine years they have continued to raise money under the name “Sail for Hope” to reflect the RI state motto.  From 2002 on, the funds were directed to support local Rhode Island charities.  This year, being the 10th Anniversary of 9/11, the name “Sail For Pride” will be brought back.  The Newport International Boat Show is very proud to help this wonderful organization.  For more information on how you can get involved, go to their web site… www.newportboatshow.com
