The start of boating season 2021
This May 2-4 weekend may not have had the momentum and excitement that normally ushers in boating season and we hope that has not dulled your business results.
Boating became a hot-spot last summer as one of the few (and we think – one of the best) ways to enjoy the summer weather while still observing the COVID-19 protocols and social distancing, but we sense a change this year. The surge of COVID-19 cases peaked a little over a month ago and provincial governments across Canada responded with varying levels of restrictions. Many are still in place for this long weekend. Start the season with Safe Boating Awareness Week, May 22nd-28th, 2021
Since 1995, Safe Boating Awareness Week has been the mainstay of boating safety to over 16 million people who recreate on Canadian waters. The 2021 campaign will still be reaching out to Canadian boaters but, due to Covid-19, will be a little different in many ways. Trent and Rideau delay season opening to align with provincial measures
To align with measures introduced by the Province of Ontario to limit the spread of COVID-19, Parks Canada administered places in Ontario will delay the launch of most visitor services including camping until at least June 2, 2021. This includes the Trent-Severn Waterway National Historic Site.
