Beneteau Launches Powerboat Designed for Liveaboards

Beneteau will launch the all new Swift 50 simultaneously in Europe and in North America beginning this fall. The newest in the Swift Trawler range, the Swift 50 incorporates significant design innovations to make living aboard easy. The addition of pod propulsion enhances performance and maneuverability at slower speeds without sacrificing the attributes that has made the Swift range unique in the trawler/motoryacht category.

“Architect Michel Joubert and designer Pierre Frutschi created a masterpiece with the new Swift 50. The boat features a more modern silhouette and smart interior design for living onboard. By incorporating Volvo IPS pod propulsion, not only is the Swift 50 as quick and fuel-efficient as her sisters in the range, but it frees up valuable space in the midship making the boat feel larger and more spacious than other boats in her class while providing exceptional maneuverability, ” says Laurent Fabre, vice president of sales and marketing for Beneteau Powerboats Division.

The Swift 50 will be on display at the Baltimore TrawlerFest September 25-30, Annapolis Powerboat Show October 11-14 and the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show October 25-29. Meanwhile in Europe, the Swift 50 will debut at the Festival de la Plaisance in Cannes, the Barcelona International Boat Show, the 52nd International Boat Show in Genoa, and the Southampton Boat Show.

Following years of research and development, Beneteau introduced its first Swift Trawler model a decade ago. Today, the full range from 34 to 52 feet is available throughout the US and Canada. The boats’ semi-displacement hull is strong while remaining lightweight, which enables quick planing with less power. Prominent chines lessen rolling in heavy seas and also make turning easy with a minimum of heel.

“What has made the Swift Trawler range so unique is that Beneteau married her specially designed hull to the proper engine/drivetrain combination to deliver impressive performance in speed, stability and fuel efficiency. What's even more remarkable in the Swift 50 is that we managed to take advantage of the IPS pods efficiency at much lower speeds than any other vessel before her”, says Fabre.
