Beneteau Set to Launch New Outboard Range

The Barracuda, Beneteau’s newest powerboat range will launch in North America next month with the arrival of the Barracuda 9. The new 29-foot outboard, which features a modular design, was built to satisfy the needs of fishermen, divers and recreational boaters who value versatility and durability.

“The inspiration for the Barracuda was to build a fishing/cruising crossover which could easily be customized based on its intended use while providing more protection than ever; we believe that is the real appeal of the range. Whether you’re a recreational fisherman or want a boat you can enjoy on weekends with your family, the Barracuda is your boat,” says Laurent Fabre, vice president of sales and marketing for Beneteau Powerboats Division.

The Barracuda 9 can be equipped with twin outboard engines up to 225HP or a single outboard up to 400HP. The length overall is 28’ 10” and is available with or without a flybridge. The Barracuda 9 features Beneteau’s patented Air Step® hull design which reduces fuel consumption, provides quicker acceleration, enhances maneuverability and offers greater control. The high side rails and freeboard ensure safety even in rough conditions while the enclosed wheelhouse adds to the comfort of guests on board.

“Beneteau is already launching the Barracuda 7 in Europe this fall, and it’s our intention to quickly bring her to the North American market where enclosed center-console boats are starting to gain much traction. She’s the perfect entry-level boat to satisfy many needs, much like her big sister,” adds Fabre.

Beneteau is known worldwide for its sleek design, quality construction and innovation in the manufacturing of seaworthy sailing and power yachts. The Beneteau story began more than 125 years ago when Benjamin Bénéteau started building fishing trawlers in Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie, France. Today, the company continues to thrive under the leadership of Benjamin Bénéteau’s granddaughter, Madame Annette Bénéteau-Roux. Beneteau has grown to twenty manufacturing facilities in France, Italy and the U.S. Another production facility for powerboats is about to begin operations in Angra dos Reis, outside of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
