ICOMIA’s Marinas Group Welcomes New Member

The Portuguese Association of Recreational Harbours (APPR) has joined the ICOMIA Marinas Group. Established in 1992, APPR is a not-for-profit organisation representing 20 recreational marina and port facilities.

The ICOMIA Marinas Group’s (IMG) mission is to be recognised globally as the peak Marina Industry body with respect to planning, development and best practice management for marinas, boat harbours, boat storage and service facilities, waterways access and associated infrastructure for recreational boating throughout the world. In 2011, the group held the ICOMIA World Marinas Conference in Singapore, which focused on the global marina industry in particular marina operations, management, planning and development.

APPR unifies Portugal’s recreational marina and port facilities and represents its members within government and associated industries. Associated with the European Blue Flag Association(ABAE),APPRencouragessustainabledevelopmentofmarinasthroughstrict criteria dealing with water quality, environmental education and information and environmental management.

ICOMIA (the International Council of Marine Industry Associations) has been the focal point of the global recreational marine industry since 1967. Peacock has been a member of Kitimat Marine Search and Rescue and RCMSAR Unit 63 for 31 years, making him one of the longest-serving members in the province.
