Living The Dream

At The Port Credit Boat Show Speaker’s Tent August 26-28, 2011

The lure of sailing the clear, turquoise waters of the Bahamas, the Caribbean or the South Pacific is always there. All of the speakers at this year’s Port Credit In-Water Boat Show have cruised these waters and will share their experiences for seasoned boaters and those who are just starting to dream.

From learning to sail, buying your first boat, taking the cruise, anchoring or heading the boat south for a winter or longer – the Port Credit- In-Water Boat Show 2011 has something for you. There are 19 seminars held over the 3-day show.

Returning this year is seminar host, Rob MacLeod of Informedboater.com. Rob will host a seminar entitled ‘Cruising the Thousand Islands’ – a great place to practice your island navigation and anchoring skills. Mary MacLeod will provide the ‘reluctant sailor’s insight’ in her talk about – ‘Living His Dream – On Her Terms.’

Wally Moran joins us for his third year. Wally is always well received for his in-depth knowledge of Heading South on the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW). Wally is a contributor to the Waterway Guide. Katrina Lewis of Openwaters.ca will discuss learning to sail on larger boat and the requirements to charter or learn-to-sail in the Caribbean.

Returning to the show after a 2 year absence are Doug and Brenda Dawson. With the release of their new e-book, Doug and Brenda unravel the perennial challenge of docking your powerboat. This is a must attend seminar for all types of boaters – inboard/outboard, single engine and twin.

Joining the speaker slate for the first time are Marnie Keith-Murray and Paul Svatsal. Marnie is an experienced single-handed sailor just back from a 10-month odyssey to the Bahamas as first mate on a Monk 36 trawler. Her ‘Two Heads Are Better Than One’, seminar is fact-filled on finding your skipper or crew for that dream trip south. Paul, a long time Toronto Sailor has just returned from a year long trip to Tahiti and Bora Bora. His 45-minute audio presentation is entitled ‘Sailing in The French Polynesia’

The Port Credit In-Water Boat Show is the only boat show that features both new AND used power and sailboats in the water and on the hard. There will be numerous land displays of marine equipment and services.
