NMEA Accepts Resignation of President David Hayden
David Hayden, president and executive director of the National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA) since 2007, submitted his resignation to the organization’s board of directors at the conclusion of the NMEA’s International Marine Electronics Conference & Expo last week in Fort Myers, Florida.
In a statement to NMEA Board Chairman David Gratton and Vice Chairman Johnny Lindstrom, who accepted his resignation, Hayden said, “I wish to thank the board for the opportunity to serve, and I believe that the timing is right for me to move on. We just completed the fifth successful annual conference under my leadership, and I feel that the board has the proper makeup and professionalism in place to continue what we’ve begun. I would like to also thank my staff at the national office for the exceptional work they have done for me and the association over the years.”
Hayden will be replaced by Interim Executive Director Bruce Angus, formerly of Johnson Outdoors, Inc. In preparation for assuming the role of interim executive director, Angus has resigned from the NMEA Board of Directors. Bruce Angus may be reached at bangus@nmea.org.
