The DAME (Design Award METS) – the world’s most prestigious design competition for new marine equipment and accessories is now open for entries under new, tighter regulations. METS/SYP organiser, Amsterdam RAI invites this year’s exhibitors to enter their most innovative designs to be judged by an independent, international jury. Cruisers Yachts has announced that a private unveiling of the 45 Cantius will take place at its 2013 annual international dealer meeting in Sturgeon Bay, Wis., held July 30 to Aug. 1, 2012, followed by a public debut at the Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show this October. The stylish 45 Cantius, complete with Volvo Diesel IPS propulsion, is the sister yacht to both the 41 and the 48 Cantius; the Cantius line originally launched in 2010.
“Both the 41 and 48 really set a standard for engineering design in the Cantius family; it was up to our engineers to not only hit, but to exceed those standards with the 45.”
In a letter to the dealers on July 10th, John T. Peterson, President or Hunter Marine Corporation announced that Marlow Acquisitions has been approved to acquire Hunter Marine corporation. The letter, sent on July 10, 2012, stated that the US District Court has approved the sale of the operating assets of Hunter Marine Corporation; and selected assets of Mainship Corporation and Luhrs Corporation to Marlow Acquisitions, LLC.

The Antique & Classic Boat Society [ACBS Toronto] held their 32nd Annual Antique & Classic Boat Show this past Saturday, July 7 at the Muskoka Wharf in Gravenhurst, Ontario.
The show was a packed event with steady crowds throughout the day looking at the amazing range of restored antique and classic boats on the docks in the water, as well as many more on land displays where you could get right up close.
Dedicated to getting more women out on the water and boating, the 2nd Annual WOW Regatta was a great success again this year. The event was at the group's host club, the Island Yacht Club.
This year there were 10 boats and over 40 women vying for the flags and prizes. The organizers want to thank Lakeshore Yacht Club for sponsoring and providing the committee boat with John LSYC and Kristina from PCYC as Race Officer!

The Thetford Corporation family is in mourning after Mary R. Burrows, 53, the company's long-time manager of chemical engineering and a true RV industry expert, died following a bicycle accident near her home in Dexter, Michigan.
"Mary was a wonderful friend, person and co-worker," Thetford executive vice president Kevin Phillips said. "She was liked and respected by everyone who worked at Thetford the past three decades. Mary touched so many people…to say that she will be greatly missed is an understatement."

After months of arduous tests and interviews, the top 10 Yamaha technicians from across Canada arrived at Yamaha Motor Canada Ltd. headquarters in Toronto for the 2012 Technician Grand Prix. Competitors were put through ten skill-testing labs that included troubleshooting mechanical issues, precision measurement and customer service interviews.
By the end of the competition, Darrin Ostapowich of Schultz Motorsports in Kamloops, BC was awarded the title of Tech GP Champion.

A group of BRP employees were involved in a fatal boating mishap last week. The company released the following statement: It is with much sadness that BRP must report that two of our employees and three of Milsco employees, a BRP supplier, were involved in a serious boating accident during a trial ride in Rend Lake located in Benton Illinois yesterday (June 27) at approximately 3:30 p.m. CST.
Our first employee involved in the accident has sustained non-life threatening injuries.
