    Old Mill Marina is pleased to announce two additions to their boat sale offerings. Old Mill Marina is now a proud dealer for Tigé inboard tow boats and Rinker family bow riders. In addition to the existing Princecraft presence, both brands are considered to be key acquisitions to facilitate the successful launch of the new Old Mill Marina sales centre located at 1092 Main Street in Dorset, on Lake of Bays.

We are now entering Phase II of the Site Development Plan so the timing is great.   • CDI ELECTRONICS COMPLETES MOVE TO NEW FACILITY


    CDI Electronics has announced that it has recently relocated to a new facility located at 353 James Record Road SW, Huntsville, AL 35824.  This move comes 30 years after the company was founded and five years after the current owners took the reins of the company.  The move will accommodate growth and enable the company to continue to maintain superior customer service to its continually expanding customer base.

    Ben Duke has been appointed vice president of marketing at Mercury Marine. In addition to leading and supporting marketing and sales initiatives in the Americas, Duke and his team will also provide support for international marketing activities worldwide.

    A seven-year Mercury Marine employee, Duke most recently served as general manager of the company’s Controls, Rigging and Propellers unit, introducing a number of products that substantially enhance boaters’ experiences on the water with intuitive designs and unprecedented reliability.

  • Baja Marine Announces New Personnel Appointments

     
    Baja Marine has announced that long-time boating industry veteran Nick Miller has re-joined the company as Vice President. Miller’s primary responsibilities will be Sales & Marketing for the company’s Baja, Donzi, Fountain, and Pro-Line boat brands. He will report to Baja Marine CEO Johnny Walker. In addition, Presley Eley has been named Lamination Manager and B.K. Millaway is the new Director of Customer Service for Baja Marine.

  • Fred Kiekhaefer will leave Mercury Marine

    Mercury Racing President Fred Kiekhaefer has announced he will end his distinctive 22-year career with Mercury Marine at the conclusion of 2012.
     
    Kiekhaefer founded Kiekhaefer Aeromarine Inc. in 1983, and sold that company to Brunswick Corporation in 1990. Brunswick is the parent company of Mercury Marine. With the sale of Aeromarine to Brunswick, Kiekhaefer joined Mercury as president of its Performance Products division.

  • MarineNav Custom Marine Electronics Locates Head Office in PEI

    MarineNav Ltd. designs and manufacturers custom marine electronics specializing in offshore navigation, multimedia and vessel monitoring systems. Their roots are in the offshore oil and gas industry. Originally based in Aberdeen Scotland, they expanded to North America making Montague, Prince Edward Island their head office.

    All manufacturing and R&D work is done in PEI.

  • ICOMIA Publishes New Global Conformity Guideline

    The International Council of Marine Industry Associations (ICOMIA) has published an amended Global Conformity Guidelines for construction standards: No. 7 Capacity Labels.

    The purpose of ICOMIA’s Guidelines is to assist boat builders who comply with either American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) or ISO, but are looking to start exporting to countries using the opposite system. ABYC and ISO standards’ systems have different requirements for the construction of boats, and are based on separate calculations and criteria.

  • Advantage Boating – 20 Years and Counting!

    It is said that time passes softly on a sailboat, and that is certainly true for Ron Schute, owner of Advantage Boating, as he celebrates twenty successful years teaching Ottawa-area sailors and boaters.   Advantage Boating (formerly Ottawa Sailing School) got its start in 1992 by offering a single course with a single instructor on the mighty Ottawa River.  Today, the school offers a wide range of educational programs provided by over 30 instructors in Ottawa, Kingston, and the Caribbean, and boasts thousands of satisfied and skilled alumni.

  • 2012 Pittman Awards for Innovation Recognizes Pindell Engineering

    Each year the Pittman Awards for Innovation recognize the most innovative and interesting products on the boating market.  Pindell Enginneering has developed a method for packaging their drying media in ways that are useful on boats.  

    The H2OUT system features perforated metal housings that allow for efficient air ventilation and easy visual inspection.  When the drying media, which is infinitely reusable, changes from blue to pink it is time to dry it out again. The units range from being toolbox size to units large enough to dry out large living spaces.  They can also be used for preventing a freezer from icing up.  

  • Outboard Motor Dealers Blue Book has New Owner/Publisher

    The 6th and 7th generation of Dawsons in the marine industry have taken over ownership and publishing of the Outboard Motor Dealer Blue Book.  Glen Dawson, of Dawson Enterprises, purchased the business from Computer Boat Values this year.  Glen will continue working for Computer Boat Values producing the Boat Value Book and will be publishing the Outboard Motor Dealers Blue Book through Dawson Enterprises with the help of his daughter, Kaitlyn.

    The Outboard Motor Dealers Blue Book has over 300 pages of pricing and specifications on major lines of outboard motors sold in Canada from 2012 to 1994.

  • 26 Sea Ray Dealers Recognized as Top 100 Dealers

    Sea Ray is pleased to announce that 26 of its North American dealers were recognized by Boating Industry magazine when it released the 2012 list of Top 100 Dealers in North America recently.

    Among the notable achievements by Sea Ray dealers this year: Boating Industry noted that Port Harbor Marine of South Portland, Maine, was chosen as the “Best Place to Work” and Sail & Ski Center of Austin, Texas, was honored for “Best Boat Show Strategy.”
