DAVID MARLOW AND JOHN PETERSON INTRODUCE THE NEW MAINSHIP 32

Marlow Mainship

David Marlow of Marlow Yachts Ltd., and John Peterson, president of Marlow-Hunter proudly introduced the brand new Marlow Mainship 32. Calling this America’s Trawler, the very first boat was on display at the Sea Isle Marina section of the 2013 Miami International Boat Show along with an impressive display of larger Marlow Yachts.

Peterson explained to a group of dealers and journalists that the new Marlow Mainship 32 brings back a familiar brand name, Mainship, but with totally new levels of design and construction quality of the type that Marlow Yachts has become famous for.

The first of what is planned to be a more extensive line fast trawlers, the Marlow Mainship 32 is remarkably open and spacious for it’s size and features a handsome and innovative transom that electrically opens into a large swim platform when moored. Many details were impressively handled, even areas like the inside surfaces on lockers and hatches.

A single Yanmar 8LV 320 diesel engine is the conventional power option but the yacht will also be offered with the very clever Velocijet Strut Keels. These incorporate a pair of  Yanmar 4JH4-TE diesel drives into twin “strut keels” that have a combined 150 horsepower. The design delivers an incredible 4.0 mpg fuel economy at an optimum speed of about 12 mph.

On the top end, the more powerful Yanmar 8LV 320 reaches approximately 26 mph top speed but the factory supplied graphs showed that the Velocijet Strut Keels still deliver top speeds of about 18 mph with stunning economy and therefore range.

Canadian Yachting magazine plans a full review of this exceptional new yacht later this year.
