The 2015 Boating BC Conference presented by Mercury Marine was a fantastic success with record attendance and outstanding feedback from attendees. Highlights included GE’s market update and thought-provoking presentations from Clint Mahlman COO London Drugs and Mark Schwabero, COO Brunswick Corp. Attendee’s raved about Marcus Sheridan’s easy-to-follow marketing takeaways and Rick Hansen’s inspirational story, which commanded a standing ovation.
Boating BC introduced a silent auction and 50/50 draw to raise funds for a new scholarship fund announced at the conference. $8,000 was raised to match funds contributed by partners: BRP/Evinrude, Honda Marine, Volvo Penta, Yamaha, Yanmar (Land Sea) and Mercury Marine.
Also announced was the Glenn Spartz MMT Scholarship which the new fund will be applied to. Glenn Spartz worked tirelessly to establish the new Marine Mechanical Technician program in partnership with ITA and BCIT. A board member at Boating BC for ten years, he retired earlier in 2015.
