Bass Tournament

Sept 29, 2020

The Thomson family and MacDonald Turkey Point Marina are thrilled to announce this past weekend that The London Children’s Hospital Bass Tournament raised over $10,000.00 and counting. This brings the tournament to a a 20-year grand total of an amazing $150,000.00! Many thanks go to the community support, competitors, volunteers, and all of our fantastic sponsors over the 20 years. During these times of COVID-19 our event was one of the only tournaments in Southern Ontario.

Social Distancing practices were followed and it was a great day for the Hospital. Our 2020 champions were Dave and John Shields with a total weight of 20.63 pounds for 5 Bass outstanding.  Big Fish winners Rob and Hunter Spietals with a Largemouth Bass tipping the scale of 6.71 pounds this bass was the biggest we have weighed in the 20-year history of the event. Special thanks to Jason and Trevor Barnucz for running the scales shuttling fish.  Also, we thank Long Point Anglers Association’s John Rakoczi and Mike for taking great care of the fish with the Live Release boat.  Over 90 bass were returned to Long Point Bay with no fatalities again this year to help ensure our fishery will be strong for many years to come.  With 1,100 children using the Hospital from Norfolk and neighbouring counties, our charity efforts are vital and we look forward to many more events in the future.

Thank You! A child’s Health is the greatest gift. – Brad Thomson, General Manager, MacDonald Turkey Point Marina.
