Ritchie Navigation continues record growth

Ritchie Navigation Growth

Oct 12, 2021

Ritchie Navigation, the world’s largest manufacturer of magnetic compasses, continues on its path of record sales. The 161-year old Pembroke, Massachusetts-based company reports 30% growth year over year, with some months setting all-time sales records. Adding a sixth work day and night shifts has helped Ritchie’s order fulfillment match demand.

Its longstanding relationships with US suppliers, plus strategic planning in early 2020, enabled Ritchie to bolster inventory and scale for growth that began last summer. “Having products made in the USA has given us a clear advantage this past year when so many companies are struggling with logistics. Our team also forecasted well and positioned us to increase production,” said Ritchie president Jon Sherman.

The company recently added a second shift and sixth workday, with all personnel adding duties to fill and ship orders. “Ritchie’s record sales are due to our most important resource: our dedicated family of employees,” said Sherman. “Without everyone’s hard work to propel us forward, we wouldn’t be in the sound position we’re in today.” Sherman is a descendent of Edward Samuel Ritchie who founded the company in 1850.
