CANADA’S LARGEST SPRING IN-WATER BOAT SHOW DOCKS AT PORT CREDIT VILLAGE MARINA MAY 29 – 31

PCSBS 2015

Canada’s largest spring in-water boat show docks at Credit Village Marina May 29, 30 and 31st, showcasing more than 70 boats, exhibits and special events and providing Ontario boaters with a head-start on summer.

In its second year, the Port Credit Boat Show annually offers boaters – both power and sail – the chance to get a jump on the summer boating season, to check out the latest in marine technology and gear, and the opportunity to shop for everything they will need for the hot boating season ahead.

“It’s the one-stop destination to get set for the 2015 season,” says Show Manager Scott MacInnes, a veteran of the boating industry. “This year, the show is bigger and better with an expanded number of exhibitors and boats on display to meet consumer demand for an all-in-one spring show that sets the tone for the upcoming season.”

The three-day show (May 29, 30 and 31st) at Credit Village Marina on Stavebank Road South, Mississauga, is sponsored by Canadian Yachting, Erin Park Lexus and Snug Harbour Seafood Bar & Grill and offers a family friendly weekend destination with live music, a Kids Zone with a jumping castle, a rock-climbing wall, demonstrations and shows, and the opportunity to spend a day lakeside enjoying the beautiful views and the boating lifestyle.

“Boating participation is on a growth curve,” said Scott. “The latest industry figures show that more than 35% of Canadians participate in boating and collectively Canadians own more than 4.3 million boats. Every year, more and more people are catching the boating fever.”

The Port Credit Boat Show responds to that growth and strong consumer interest with the premier show in Ontario allowing boaters and would-be boaters to board and compare dozens of makes and models and equipment – from a dynamic selection of powerboats, sailboats and new and lightly used brokerage boats to this season’s best marine technology, boating accessories, services and apparel.

This year’s show also features Personal Water Craft (PWC) accessories, a growing segment of the industry. For example, a highlight this year is the Jetovator, a simple to install attachment that allows users to soar in the air on the end of a 40-foot hose tethered to a PWC. The Jetovator team will be at the show all weekend long doing demos.

A highlight of the show is the community boat rides provided by CharterAbility, a registered charity dedicated to providing access to recreational boating at no cost to those who can’t boat because of physical limitations or personal circumstances.
Throughout the show, volunteers from CharterAbility will be offering 20-minute, round-trip cruises on the Credit River from the dock to the Lighthouse or the train trestle, giving passengers a first-hand taste of the joys of boating.

Last year, CharterAbility completed more than 200 community boat rides with proceeds going to a wide range of programs and projects including day camps, seniors’ homes, long-term-care facilities and families and other groups with disabilities. This year, all rides will be on the Green Pontoon Boat provided by dedicated CharterAbility Crew Member Jim Fielders.

Rides are free for seniors and people with disabilities; $5 for all others. All proceeds go to CharterAbility and http://paintthetownred.ca/ .

The show also offers both new and experienced boaters the opportunity to learn new boating skills or brush up on their existing skills through the Discover Boating Hands-on Skills Training series that provides free, in-water expert instruction on boating safety and essential skills, including precision boat control, docking and handling wind and currents.

“We’ve got it all,” says Scott, “from stand-up yoga paddle boats to a $1.4 million Neptunus 55 Express, there’s something for every level of boater and every price range all in one place at one time. The Port Credit Boat Show is now the number one destination for anyone with an interest in boating.”

Four Winns’ new H9 is stunning!

CMRA

As of July 1st, 2024 the embargo is lifted on the photos and information about Four Winns’ new H9 model and it is stunning!

About a month ago, I traveled to Charlevoix, MI for a special press event to introduce the H9 to a small group of journalists. The water and the weather were a bit cool but the sun was out and Lake Charlevoix was calm and the Four Winns H9 was very impressive. This is a 29-foot 11-inch luxury day boat with a 9- foot 2-inch beam and it features a fabulous expansive flat floor all the way from the bow rider area to the transom and the swim platform.
