Mercury Marine®, a division of Brunswick Corporation (NYSE: BC), and EagleCraft Custom Boats in British Columbia have jointly announced the first installation of twin Mercury 7.6-liter V12 600hp Verado outboards on a boat by a Canadian manufacturer. At a customer’s request, the boat builder equipped its 38’ Cruiser model with the new outboards.

“We are thrilled to be the first Canadian company to install this impressive propulsion system,” said EagleCraft Managing Director Torry Wannenwetsch. “EagleCraft transoms are designed for superior horsepower. With these twins generating 1200hp, they’re a perfect fit. Our Pacific Northwest waters can be extremely demanding, and the Mercury platform is up to the challenge.”

The Mercury 600hp Verado outboard features a naturally aspirated, large-displacement, quad-cam powerhead that generates impressive torque to launch heavy boats out of the hole and get them on plane quickly, and to accelerate them up to rated speed rapidly. In sea trials, the twin 600hp Verado outboards powerfully accelerated the EagleCraft 38’ Cruiser and propelled it to a top speed of over 60 mph. The new engines deliver outstanding performance while also setting new benchmarks in fuel efficiency, giving boaters greater range for their outings on the water.

The highest-horsepower outboard in production today, the Mercury 600hp Verado engine features the world’s first and only V12 powerhead, steerable gearcase and two-speed transmission on an outboard. It also represents the manufacturer’s first application of contra-rotating propellers on an outboard. Learn more about the V12 Verado outboard’s innovations and advancements at MercuryMarine.com.

The EagleCraft 38’ Cruiser is a perfect hybrid for luxury cruising and sportfishing, with an overall length of 38’6” and 11’4” beam. The vessel comfortably sleeps up to six passengers with an island-style queen-sized berth, a lower double berth and a dinette that converts to another sleeping area. The lower berth includes a full stand-up head and a separate shower. The main cabin/saloon features suspension seats for the captain and co-pilot as well as a full galley with all the essentials for coastal cruising. The aft deck includes storage lockers, fish locker/storage and a second helm.

Mercury Canada General Manager Jonathan Levine reported a smooth collaboration with EagleCraft on the installation of the new engines. “The EagleCraft 38’ Cruiser, with its combination of performance, durability and luxury, is a great match with our new V12 outboards,” he said. “With the steering capability integrated into the outboard and the use of our easy-to-connect Next Gen Digital Throttle & Shift remote controls, the installation was straightforward.”

Mercury President Chris Drees upheld this boat-and-engine pairing as an example of the V12 Verado outboard’s expanding acceptance. “With boats continuing to grow bigger and performance expectations continuing to rise, boaters have been asking for a better, more capable high horsepower solution to meet their needs. The V12 Verado outboard is Mercury’s answer,” Drees said.

“Using our advanced engineering and design capabilities, we completely redefined outboard performance. The V12 Verado outboard delivers boaters unrivaled freedom, luxury and power to pursue their passions on the water. This is a remarkable engine that will change the future of boating.”
