IBEX TO OFFER RBFF SPECIAL SESSION ON ENGAGING THE HISPANIC COMMUNITY IN RECREATIONAL BOATING AND FISHING

Hispanic Boaters

How to target and engage new or underserved audiences, including the Hispanic community, will be the main topic at a special session of the International BoatBuilders’ Exhibition & Conference (IBEX) on Wednesday, October 1 from 10:30 am – 12 pm. The session is sponsored by the Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation (RBFF), an organization with a well-established Hispanic outreach campaign, and co-sponsored by Soundings Trade Only.

“According to RBFF, the growing Hispanic community will comprise 20 percent of the U.S. population by the year 2020, and it’s important that boating and fishing manufacturers and dealers learn about these underserved audiences because they will have a significant impact on spending and revenue,”said Anne Dunbar, IBEX Show Director. “We welcome RBFF to offer our attendees the most important information to help them grow their businesses now and in the future.”

At this special free session, attendees will learn how to engage this large group of potential new customers. RBFF and Lopez Negrete Communications will present motivating updates on their Hispanic outreach campaign and new Spanish-language website, VamosAPescar.org, launched in April 2014. Attendees will also receive tips and tools from RBFF’s Hispanic Stakeholder Toolkit. In addition, insights on engaging new and underserved audiences from Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, ESPN Deportes, Wal-Mart and Colle + McVoy will be incorporated into the presentation.

“We are pleased to share with IBEX attendees the insights we’ve gained from engaging with new and underserved audiences,” said RBFF President and CEO Frank Peterson. “Working together as an industry, it’s critical we begin developing plans now to engage with groups such as Hispanics who are underrepresented in fishing and boating.”

To attend this special session, please register for the IBEX show. If you are already registered and would like to add this session to your itinerary, please contact Joanne Miller at jmiller@nmma.org or 312-946-6245.

About the Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation: RBFF is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to increase participation in recreational angling and boating, thereby protecting and restoring the nation’s aquatic natural resources. RBFF developed the award-winning Take Me Fishing™ campaign to create awareness around boating, fishing and conservation, and educate people about the benefits of participation. Take Me Fishing helps boaters and anglers of all ages and experience levels learn, plan and equip for a day on the water. The campaign website, TakeMeFishing.org, and its new Spanish-language counterpart, VamosAPescar.org, feature how-to videos, information on how to get a fishing license and boat registration, and an interactive state-by-state map that allows visitors to find local boating and fishing spots.

NMEA

The 2024 Marine Electronics Conference & Expo, held by the National Marine Electronics Association, (NMEA) took place September 16 to the 20th in Providence, Rhode Island. Boating Industry Canada was there for the first time and we were very impressed with what we found.

The association is very well supported and virtually any significant marine electronics company that you could name, was represented there on the Exhibitor list at the Expo as well as all being NMEA members and very supportive of the organization.
