NEW ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGY FROM Velo3d OMITS THE NEED FOR BOTH SUPPORTS AND PLATE

We thought our News Week readers would enjoy this short video showing someone reach into the build chamber of a metal additive manufacturing machine and pull parts out of a powder-bed—without any support structures tying them to a build plate. New technology from Velo3d omits the need for both supports and plate, allowing up to 700% more parts to be stacked to achieve full build volume.

Support structures have rendered certain designs unprintable for the past 20 years. Velo3d’s proprietary process enables users to ‘break the 45 degree rule’ and print the most complex geometries with a significant reduction in post-processing steps (no wire EDM or stress relief required).
