Position Summary:

Office/Event Assistant to support the association programs and projects as required. The successful candidate will undertake a variety of program-related administrative tasks and participate in some boating events. This opportunity is great experience for students in the marketing/public relations/business areas of study.

Responsibilities:

General office administrative assistance to CEO and staff as required

Collection of data from members via email and phone

Assistance in member database and website development

Data entry, updating files and electronic records

Answering email and phone inquires from members and the public

Assistance with member communications via newsletters and email broadcasts

Some attendance to recreational boating industry events as a representative of the association

Some travel may be required

Requirements:

Must be a student 15-30 years old and a full time post secondary student returning to school

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Competent computer skills and knowledge of computer applications including MS office; Excel, Word, Outlook, database software, social media programs

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team

Proactive and resourceful

Possess a valid driver’s license

Additional Details:

Job starts July 4th and is for 35 hours / week for eight weeks and pays $12 per hour

Days, Monday – Friday and possible occasional evenings and weekends required

Boating Ontario is open to hire students with disabilities, Aboriginal students and students who are members of a visible minority

Boating Ontario is the largest recreational boating organization in Canada. Province wide our 600 members represent marina operators, boat dealers, brokers and suppliers to Ontario’s diverse recreational boating industry.
