Visitors came in droves to kick off the upcoming boating season at the 2015 edition of the Moncton Boat Show, which took place March 27-29 at the Moncton Coliseum. Again this year, the show was co-located with the Dieppe Fly Fishing Forum and the NB Sportsmen’s Show, offering those who attended lots of opportunities to plan their spring and summer outdoor season!

CPS-ECP was on the international stage today at the International Boating and Water Safety Summit meetings in Florida. Chief Commander, Joe Gatfield presented the success of our Safety Equipment Education and Pyrotechnic Flare Disposal Days! In 2014 CPS-ECP volunteers collected 9,300 outdated flares. 2015 dates are coming soon!
The Georgian Bay In-Water Boat Show has a huge selection of new and used brokerage boats at the docks. Xantrex and Schneider Electric along with the NGO Gaia Watch travelled to Anexo Angola, a small village located 130 kilometers south of Lima, Peru. This remote village composed of 32 families has never enjoyed access to electricity or portable water. Mainly drawing energy from diesel-powered electric generators, the families of Anexo Angola face limited access to power due to the increasing cost of diesel in the area.

Due to the continued increase of counterfeit marine certificates, International Yacht Training (IYT) recognised the need for real-time verification of qualifications and has incorporated a verification QR code into certificates. Scanning the QR code using a smart phone takes you directly to a secure server which verifies the student’s identity and IYT qualifications. Information regarding the school attended and instructor who taught the class is also available.
