DR. SHRINK USES NEW BAGS FOR EXPANDED RECYCLING RUN INCLUDING ONTARIO

Dr. Shrink is expanding its annual Recycling Run. The run now covers locations within 200 miles of Toronto plus four new states in the U.S.The company even custom-designed a new website, www.recycling-run.com, and EZ Fill Bags just for the run.

These bags are 40% bigger than previous bags and feature a large-mouth opening. This allows users to fit more shrink wrap into every bag. Each bag costs only $5 to collect, transport, bale and recycle. Participants must buy the EZ Fill Bags from Dr. Shrink and fill it with shrink wrap only, no strapping, buckles, vents or other contaminants. A video showing how to properly prepare the bags is available on the Recycling Run website.

BRP OFFERS AN INBOARD JET PROPULSION SYSTEM FOR BOAT BUILDERS

BRP has announced that it has expanded its marine engines portfolio by offering an in-board jet propulsion system, using its Rotax 4-TEC 1503 engine. BRP's Marine Propulsion Systems division in Sturtevant, Wisconsin, formerly the Outboard Engine division, will now assemble Rotax inboard propulsion systems in addition to Evinrude outboard engines.

The heart of the jet propulsion system is the proven Rotax 4-TEC 1503 engine that is currently used in Sea-Doo watercraft. The Rotax 1503 power pack is available exclusively to boat builders and includes the 4-TEC 1503 engine, controls, fuel and jet pumps, along with the exhaust, electrical,
propulsion and cooling systems.

MONCTON BOAT SHOW ATTENDANCE UP 12%

The owners of the Moncton Boat Show, Master Promotions Ltd. are pleased to announce that the 2013 edition of New Brunswick’s largest boat show was a resounding success!

The Brunswick Boat Group, a unit of Brunswick Corporation (NYSE: BC), has announced that Tim Schiek has been named president of the Sea Ray Group effective March 11. He will report to Andy Graves, president – Brunswick Boat Group.

Schiek, with Brunswick for the past 18 years, has been president of the Boston Whaler Group since 2010. Graham Lacey, Boating Ontario President recently sent out a member communication that it is time to 'spring forward' and prepare for another season, starting by attending the slate of Regional Meetings planned by the staff at Boating Ontario.

Lacey raises several challenges that lie ahead for the industry and the Boating Ontario Association. The obvious issues of low water levels, operational and rate changes in the Trent- Severn and Rideau systems and water lot leases are examples. Lack of funding for the association programs, skilled staff shortages and sustainable funding for the Association are not new, but still demand attention.

In support of its ongoing efforts to improve and conserve the marine environment, West Marine is seeking applications for Marine Conservation Grants. There will be five to ten grants awarded in amounts ranging from $500-$5000 per recipient.
