Summer is in full swing with Canadians enjoying time outside and on the water. So, while enjoying these activities, consider taking a moment to nominate an individual/organization for one of the Canadian Safe Boating Awards (CASBAs).

COVID cancelled last year’s Canadian Safe Boating Awards (CASBAs) event but we are back for 2021.

Nominations are now being accepted for events / heroes / innovators between October 2019 until nominations close on 31 October 2021. Don’t delay. Please consider nominating individuals and organizations in the following categories:

• Stearns Rescue of the Year

• Top Volunteer Dedicated to Boating Safety

• Safeguarding the Environment

• Marine Professional of the Year

• Visible PFD / Lifejacket Wear in Advertising

• Marine Industry Award

• Best Boating Safety Initiative

• Best Media Contribution to Boating Safety

• Special Recognition Award

BC Ferries: Queen of Surrey out of Commission until Jan 28th amid Proposed BC Ferries Expansion

BC Ferries vessel Queen of Surrey is expected to remain out of commission until the end of the month, according to BC Ferries.

The vessel, which has been in service for more than 40 years, was pulled from the Horseshoe Bay to Langdale service on January 1st to undergo repairs to its propulsion system.
