Matt GruhnBoating BC members are invited to join the second annual Industry Breakfast featuring a keynote presentation by Matt Gruhn, President of Marine Retailers Association of the Americas called “CHANGING THE STORY FOR FIRST TIME BOAT BUYERS”.

Forty per cent of first-time boat buyers will sell their boat and leave boating within five years of making their purchase. It's a startling statistic from the National Marine Manufacturers Association's (NMMA) first-time boat buyer research.

Matt Gruhn, President of Marine Retailers Association of the Americas, will share an overview of NMMA's research, and insights on how, as an industry, we can use this reality as an opportunity to change the story of new boat buyers and keep them boating for years to come.

This is a members-only event. Please register in advance at www.boatingbc.ca/2020agm or call us at 604-238-7500.

During these difficult COVID-19 times, it isn’t just humans who need to practice physical distancing; Southern Resident killer whales need space too. Everyone boating on B.C.’s coastal waters has an important role to play to keep these endangered mammals safe.  Here are six easy things you can do to help protect them, and yourself while boating:

• Stay 400 metres – about two average container ships – away from killer whales in all southern B.C. coastal waters between Campbell River and just north of Ucluelet.
