OUTDOOR THERAPY – EDMONTON BOAT AND SPORTSMEN’S SHOW OPENS MARCH 12

Edmonton Boat and Sportsmens Show

Mar 10, 2020

Western Canada’s Biggest Boat and Sportsmen’s Show is coming to Edmonton. The 2020 Edmonton Boat and Sportsmen’s Show takes place March 12-15th at the Expo Centre.

“There is nothing that soothes the soul more than breathing in fresh air and taking in the beauty that Mother Nature has to offer” says Marla Kimball, Show Manager, “if you enjoy spending time outdoors then the Edmonton Boat and Sportsmen’s Show is the place you will want to be. You will find all the gear you need for your next outdoor adventure.”

If you are planning an escape or adventure whether it is near or far, we have many Travel and Tourism exhibitors for a great selection of outdoor related trips and excursions. Show goers can research and compare destinations and locations to find the one that is the best fit for them.

If your idea of an escape is an impromptu hike or something that requires a little more planning; like an extended fishing or hunting trip, you will find all the gear you need right at the Edmonton Boat and Sportsmen’s Show. Outdoor adventures are all about the experience but having the right gear is essential. Many of the exhibitors are offering their best prices of the season on products and services.

The AHEIA Zone is an excellent resource for Boating Safety and Hunter safety as well as information about preservation and conservation efforts. There is no better way to introduce your kids to activities than giving them an opportunity to get hands on. Give the archery, hunting or fishing simulators a try. For those that have kids under the age of 12 the Kids Trout Pond is a must stop. Kids can try their hand at this catch and release program for a small donation. All the proceeds go to support the Edmonton Fish and Game Association.

Hands on is definitely an underlying theme of this year’s Show, often making those experiences some of the most memorable ones. Cobb’s Adventure Park and Calgary Reptile Parties are providing just those types of opportunities. Cuddle with baby kangaroos and wallabies, or dare to touch and handle snakes, scorpions and even tarantulas.
The West Coast Lumberjack Show is a family friendly entertainment experience that should not be missed. The show celebrates the lumberjack skills of yore, in a head to head team competition format. Pick a team and cheer them on to victory. One of the highlights of the show is always the log rolling finale.

Husqvarna presents Marina Cole. Native to Alberta this talented chainsaw carver will be at the Show creating unique works of art created using only her chainsaw. It truly is mesmerizing to watch her pieces take shape.

The Edmonton Boat and Sportsmen’s Show has more than four Halls dedicated solely to watercraft, toys and accessories. If you can’t find it at the Show, then it likely doesn’t exist. Big or small we have it all. Jet skis, pontoon boats, fishing boats and ski boats. The selection is huge, shop and compare and make a deal to ensure delivery by early Spring so you can get the most out of your new watercraft in 2020.

The Edmonton Boat and Sportsmen’s Show will once again play host to the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) Provincial Championships. The best of the best will compete for the title. If you want to get in on a little archery action, the Strike Combat Archery Zone is the place. Instruction and gear are provided. Sign up and go head to head against other competitors.

Cobbs Adventure Park will be at the Show for the first time with baby kangaroos, wallabies and other furry creatures. Come and cuddle and help raise funds for Australian wildlife.

The Trailrunners K9 Training Centre will be conducting dog demonstrations throughout the show that will highlight training techniques and tips for hunting dogs, competition, enforcement, therapy fields in addition to well-tempered family companion dogs.

Alberta is home to some of the best waterways in the world for fly fishing. Check out the Fly-fishing Learning Centre and perfect your casting technique or learn from experts how to properly tie a fly in the Northern Lights Fly Fishers booth.

The Outdoor Stage has lots to offer show goers. The presenters are as varied as the topics that they will cover. Always willing to share their experiences both good and bad, this group of outdoorsmen and women include Wes David, host of Fishing the Wild West, Brad Fenson, Outdoor Writer, Photographer and Wild Game Cook, Rob Dunham, well known international outfitter, Lisa Roper, avid hunter and fisherperson, Mitchell Payment, host of Moment of Truth TV and Steven Smith owner of Smith Game Calls. Check the website for a complete list of all the presentations and times.

Be sure to enter to win one of the many prizes being offered including the Husqvarna Supreme Yard Combo and Ultimate Yard Package valued at $1500.00 each.
