On Friday, January 12th, at the Toronto International Boat Show, the Boating Industry Canada Employer of Choice (BICEOC) Award program presented awards to the first winners in this important employee development program.

This is the only “best employer” recognition award for Canada’s recreational marine industry. This is a national program that creates leading employer brand recognition and a true competitive advantage for attracting, retaining and engaging top talent. There are two award categories:

  • Dealers & Marinas
  • Marine Business: Manufacturers, Suppliers, Service Providers, Retailers and Distributors

3 Step Assessment Process:

  • Step 1: On-line Application – go to: ccemployerofchoice.com
  • Step 2: Fill in the Company Profile
    It’s a document used to collect detailed information on leadership attributes and human resource policies, practices and procedures. This accounts for 50% of the overall evaluation score.
  • Step 3: Complete the Employee Commitment Survey
    The survey accounts for the remaining 50% of the evaluation score. 

The survey questions measure everything from:

  • Compensation and Benefits,
  • Rewards and Recognition
  • Management/Employee Relations
  • Training and Development
  • Career Advancement
  • Employee Engagement
  • Environment and Facilities
  • Leadership
  • Reputation

Qualifications

All participating companies must achieve a minimum of 75% combined score on the assessment (Company Profile and Employee Survey) to claim the award.

Eligibility

Participating organizations must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Compete in the Canadian boating industry
  • Have a physical presence in Canada
  • Have 10 or more full time employees
  • Have been in business for 1 year or more
  • Private or publicly traded company
  • Non-profit, government or NGO

  • Engraved trophy presented at the Toronto and Vancouver International Boat Shows
  • Recognition in a special feature in Boating Industry Canada News Week
  • Press release announcing winners
  • Unlimited use of the BICEOC logo
  • Listing on the CCEOC and Boating Industry Canada websites

Reporting

As part of the program, CCEOC produces detailed Summary and Benchmark Reports for each participating organization. These reports provide valuable insights and guidance to help improve workplace performance, lower costs and build a superior employer of choice brand. For a nominal fee, the reports can be purchased directly from CCEOC.

Timeline

Applications must be received by August 31, 2018. All company profiles and employee surveys must be submitted by September 30, 2018. Winners will be announced in November.
