Furuno introduces its TZtouchE series

March 17, 2026

For many boaters, the challenge in selecting marine electronics is not the lack of available technology, but choosing a system that delivers meaningful capability without unnecessary complexity. Furuno’s TZtouchE series—comprised of the TZT9E and TZT13E multifunction displays—was developed to address that balance, offering a modern navigation platform that can function as a stand-alone system or as part of a larger networked installation.

The displays are available in 9-inch and 13-inch sunlight-viewable multi-touch formats and run the same user interface found in Furuno’s flagship NavNet TZtouchXL systems. Designed with ease of operation in mind, the interface uses familiar smartphone-style gestures and edge-swiping controls, allowing operators to manage charting, radar, and fish-finding functions through an intuitive layout tailored for marine navigation.

Charting is powered by the TZ Maps platform, which combines official hydrographic data with high-resolution bathymetric layers and satellite imagery to provide detailed coastal and offshore coverage. Routes, waypoints, and other navigation data can also be synchronized through Furuno’s cloud-based My TimeZero service, enabling trip planning and data management both on board and remotely.

Flexibility is a key characteristic of the TZtouchE platform. While the displays can serve as the primary helm display on smaller vessels, they are also capable of networking with Furuno’s NavNet TZtouchXL systems. This compatibility allows the units to operate alongside larger bridge displays, giving installers and boat owners the ability to expand the system as operational needs evolve.

Radar integration is another central component of the system. TZtouchE supports Furuno’s full lineup of NXT solid-state Doppler radars, including both compact dome models and larger open-array antennas. These radars offer features such as automatic target tracking, bird detection, and Doppler-based Target Analyzer technology for identifying approaching targets. Additional situational awareness tools include Risk Visualizer, which presents potential collision risks in a clear graphical format, and AI Avoidance Route, which can suggest alternate routes around hazards using real-time radar and chart data.

Fish-finding capability is also integrated directly into the system. Each TZtouchE display includes a built-in 1 kW single-channel TruEcho CHIRP™ or CW Fish Finder, along with CHIRP Side-Scan for monitoring bottom structure and fish activity on either side of the vessel. For expanded sonar performance, the displays also support external network fish finder modules such as the DFF1UHD+, DFF3-UHD, and the DFF3D multibeam sonar.

The system can also integrate with additional onboard equipment, including the SCX20 Satellite Compass and NavPilot autopilot systems, allowing the display to serve as a central hub for navigation data, vessel control, and situational awareness.
