Webasto hits marine sunroof milestone

Webasto Sunroofs

June 29, 2021

Webasto, the global leader in marine roofing, A/C and fuel-operated heating solutions, has manufactured its 8,000th boat sunroof. The 40 Series Electric Marine Sliding Sunroof is destined for installation on a Chaparral 317 SSX.

A testament to the quality Webasto builds into each product, a 40 Series sunroof takes four weeks to manufacture and test. This attention to detail pays off with its proven mechanical reliability and 100% watertightness. It’s also exceptionally simple for OEMs to integrate into their cabin and hardtop layouts.

“The installation of the 40 Series sunroof is quick and easy,” said Derek Cornelius, Chaparral director of purchasing. “It fits elegantly into the design of our boat and provides light and fresh air.” The 40 Series has a slim, low-profile shape that is particularly suited for smaller boats like the Chaparral 317 SSX.

Webasto SunroofWebasto is the world’s largest manufacturer of automotive sunroofs and one of that industry’s global top 100 suppliers. Since 2004, its marine segment has offered roof systems and integrated climate comfort solutions for recreational and commercial vessels.

“We’re very proud of this milestone and pleased that the 8,000th sunroof went to a prominent North American builder,” said David Wollard, Webasto senior director of leisure markets. Webasto is a UMMA (United Marine Manufacturers Association) certified supplier and was recently named an IBBI (Independent Boat Builders, Inc.) preferred supplier.
