David Lauchlan MacDougall – June 3, 1952 – September 17, 2025

September 30, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of David MacDougall. David was the cherished father of Amanda Carlos (Michael Bercovich), Drew MacDougall (Kaylyn MacDougall), and Lara MacDougall (Brian Hoey), and the much-loved “Grandpa Trailer” to Cali and Kinger. He was a beloved younger brother to Denis MacDougall (Debbie MacDougall) and Sheila Steinle, and a devoted uncle to Denis and Debbie’s four children, their partners, and proud great-uncle to two grandchildren. David is lovingly remembered by Leslie MacDougall and will be deeply missed by his dear lifelong friend, Bill Turik. He was predeceased by his parents, Duncan MacDougall and Marjorie (née Lacroix) Broadbridge.

David was an exceptionally hard worker, enjoying a career as District Sales Manager with Yamaha Motor Canada until 2011. His family was at the heart of everything David did, and he was immensely proud of his three children and two grandchildren. He loved his Coke Zero and whiskey, and the movie National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, which he quoted often. He spent half of the year in his beloved NuCamp trailer at Sun Retreats Blue Mountains and half the year in the heart of Wasaga Beach, which he treasured dearly. In his spare time, he enjoyed completing Wordles and driving down to the Wasaga beach front. David was an avid Leafs fan to the core and found himself disappointed with every loss and annual first round exits, yet as each new season began, he vowed that each season would be “the season.” One of his favourite past times was coaching the team from his living room and creating “encouraging” Facebook posts.

Dogs were a treasured part of David’s life, especially golden retrievers, which brought him immense joy. His grand-dog, Ginny, held a particularly special place in his heart. In David’s own words, “there is something special about that dog.”

David will be fondly remembered as a one-of-a-kind, wicked smart, strong-hearted and hilarious individual.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Collingwood, a place that he loved for its lake, beach and sunsets. Details will be published once finalized. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto. Arrangements entrusted to the Chatterson Funeral Home, Collingwood.
