ePropulsion Expands Award-Winning Line-Up With the New Spirit 2 Electric Outboard

December 2, 2025

ePropulsion Americas, a global leader in marine electric propulsion systems and services, has announced the launch of Spirit 2, the latest addition to its acclaimed Spirit series. Celebrating ten years of innovation in electric mobility on the water, Spirit 2 delivers an exceptional combination of power and portability, redefining what boaters can expect from a compact electric outboard. Designed to offer powerful performance without sacrificing portability, Spirit 2 blends high-efficiency engineering with intelligent, user-friendly design to set a new benchmark for small electric outboards.

From day sailing to fishing or tender transport, Spirit 2 is engineered to support a wide variety of boating needs with a focus on performance, sustainability and simplicity. Powered by a 2 kW motor, Spirit 2 features a lightweight yet robust design suitable for a broad range of boating applications. A newly introduced 3 kW Boost Mode delivers extra power when needed, without compromising the system’s signature efficiency and quiet operation. The motor is paired with a 1539Wh quick connect battery, the largest in its class, providing extended range and dependable performance.

“Spirit 2 embodies our vision for the future of electric boating, where power and portability go hand in hand,” said Danny Tao, Co-founder and CEO of ePropulsion. “We’ve taken everything users appreciated about the original Spirit and advanced it further to create a solution that delivers greater power, enhanced portability, and intelligent control. It’s built to elevate the on-water experience for boaters everywhere.”

Designed for simplicity and convenience, Spirit 2 combines a compact motor weighing just over 22 pounds with a 23-pound battery, delivering exceptional ease of handling both on and off the water. New features including a detachable clamp, foldable tiller, and quick-connect battery system make transport, installation, and storage effortless. A full-color display and adjustable-length tiller further enhance comfort, control, and overall usability.

A number of functional upgrades make the Spirit 2 ideal for practical, everyday boating. These include shallow-water trimming, a 90-degree tilt function, an integrated steering lock and a kill switch with pigtail line for added safety. The motor also includes ePropulsion’s advanced hydrogeneration technology, which produces electricity while sailing between 3 and 16 knots. It can generate up to 380 watts at 10 knots, extending the battery life during longer trips.

In addition, Spirit 2 includes a 45w USB-C output for device charging. An optional battery inverter accessory transforms the Spirit battery into a portable power station, offering greater flexibility for off-grid use.

With a top speed of 9.5 knots at full power, a single charge provides around 54 minutes of cruising at full power, extending to 1 hour 48 minutes at half power and up to 3 hours at quarter power, depending on conditions. The system is fully compatible with ePropulsion’s 48V platform and E Series batteries, and it supports solar charging as well as integration with third-party energy systems, including Victron Energy. This commitment to thoughtful engineering has earned Spirit 2 a DAME Design Award nomination, highlighting the product’s advances in usability, performance and design.

Spirit 2 will be available worldwide through authorized ePropulsion dealers starting in spring 2026.
