No ordinary fire blanket for lithium-ion batteries

LiCELL SB Series Fire Blanket

Sept 17, 2024

For many types of isolated fires, smothering is an effective suppression technique, except if a lithium-ion battery is burning. Then, a LiCELL SB Series Fire Blanket from Sea-Fire Marine is what’s needed. The product is specifically engineered to withstand extremely high temperatures for prolonged periods as well as contain expelled debris and shrapnel commonly encountered with lithium-ion battery fires.

The LiCELL SB Series Fire Blanket is incapable of igniting. Independently tested and verified for prolonged direct flame contact and use at temperatures up to 2,552° F. Reusable, it’s ideal for refractory flame deflection and suppressing multiple lithium-ion battery fires.

Foldable and easy to store, the LiCELL SB Series Fire Blanket is manufactured using a fully oxidized woven fabric with a high silica glass fiber content. Integrated handling loops make the device simple to deploy. A video demonstrating the material is at ww.bit.ly/BlanketBurnTrial.

Sea-Fire’s LiCELL SB Series Fire Blanket is offered in four sizes: SB06 is 6′ x 6′, SB09 is 9′ x 9′, SB12 is 12′ x 12′ and, ideal for electric vehicle fires, SBEV is 19′ x 26′. Each includes a storage carry bag. Prices start at $1,199.99 USD. For handheld lithium-ion-powered device fires, Sea-Fire offers a range of SK Series Fire Safety Kits.

LiCELL is a fire protection technologies company specializing in lithium battery fire solutions. Sea-Fire Marine, under license and agreement with LiCELL, supplies the marine market.
