Raymarine adds powerful, new fishing features to Axiom Chartplotter displays

New Fishing Features for Axiom Chartplotter Displays

July 23, 2024

Raymarine, a global leader in high-performance marine electronics for the recreational boating, marine first-responder and law-enforcement markets, has announced  powerful new fishing features added to their Axiom displays. With the August release of the Lighthouse 4.7 software upgrade, Axiom users can experience total boat control, directly from their chartplotter display, for both Power-Pole Shallow Water Anchors and all MOVE Brushless trolling motor models, including the new MOVE Offshore available in 84-, 96-, and 110-inch lengths. The software update also includes a new timesaving Smart DriftTM feature, and Raymarine is proud to announce that the South Florida chart for Florida Marine Tracks, now compatible with Axiom displays, will release for sale in August 2024.

Power-Pole Integration
Axiom users will be able to stow and deploy Power-Pole Shallow Water Anchors and control all MOVE trolling motor models – directly from their chartplotter display. They will also be able to take advantage of the Power-Pole MOVE’s advanced navigation controls and seamlessly switch between the MOVE trolling motor and Raymarine Evolution autopilot while navigating a route or waypoint.

Key features for Axiom and the Shallow Water Anchors include:

            • Precise manual control of stow and deploy of single or dual anchors

            • One-touch auto stow or deploy of single or dual anchors

Key features for Axiom and MOVE Brushless Trolling Motor include:

            • Navigate to point or follow a route

            • Anchor with jog mode, precisely hold a position, then jog 5 feet with a single press

            • Precise heading or course over ground control with speed control

            • Manual steering control

Smart Drift
The new Smart Drift feature in the Axiom chartplotter is an innovative addition that takes the guesswork out of starting a drift when bottom fishing, deep dropping or fishing over wrecks. To calculate a drift, anglers can select a chart location or use Axiom’s sonar history feature to scroll back the fishfinder timeline and identify interesting bottom structure or a wreck for a drift-start location. Smart Drift then creates a drift vector line and start location. Users simply position the boat over the start location to start the drift and in the selected timeframe, the boat will end its drift at the selected waypoint. The drift vector time is adjustable, allowing anglers to extend the drift time to better prepare tackle and gear.

Florida Marine Tracks
An advantage for shallow-water and flats anglers in Florida, Raymarine also announced that the South Florida chart for Axiom displays by Florida Marine Tracks will be available for purchase by ISLA Mapping as early as August 2024. The new chart compatibility does not require the upcoming Lighthouse 4.7 software upgrade. Florida Marine Tracks offers thousands of miles of precisely drawn detailed navigation tracks for flats, bay boats and other shallow-water boats running in challenging areas. Florida Marine Tracks maps are corrected to provide the precise location of navigation aids, including daymarkers, buoys and signs, as well as concrete abutments, PVC stakes and Everglades navigational aids. The native Florida Marine Tracks aerial imagery features resolution ranging from 3 inches to 1 foot. This lets anglers to zoom in with clarity from 50 to 100 feet with no loss of resolution. Axiom 2 Pro and Axiom 2 XL’s powerful six-core processor delivers fast redraws and high-definition renderings of Florida Marine Tracks premier, high-resolution fish charts.

“We have always tried to make our Axiom displays more robust and user-friendly, and these new fishing features give users the tools they need for a successful day on the water,” said Jamie Dery, Vice President of Raymarine Americas. “Whether running in the shallows with Florida Marine Tracks, anchoring with your Power-Pole Shallow Water Anchor system, sneaking up on your target fish with Power-Pole MOVE Trolling Motor or setting your boat for a drift to a nearby wreck, Axiom gives you all of that functionality and more with easy-to-use, touch-screen controls.”

Power-Pole integration, Smart Drift feature, along with other fishing and boating benefits will be released as part of the Axiom Lighthouse 4.7 upgrade, scheduled for August 2024.

As noted, the South Florida chart of Florida Marine Tracks, compatible with Axiom displays, is scheduled to be available for sale by ISLA Mapping as early as August 2024. To learn more about Raymarine compatibility with Power-Pole, Florida Marine Tracks, and new functionality of the Axiom Lighthouse 4.7 upgrade, go to www.raymarine.com/icast.
