Stay Cool In The Heat

January 20, 2026

Bremen-based carbon specialist multiplex is expanding its popular sun awning systems with an integrated misting module, delivering a noticeable cooling effect to the surrounding air.

Multiplex has long been renowned for its innovative, tailor-made solutions in the superyacht sector. Now, the Bremen manufacturer is enhancing its product portfolio by adding an integrated cooling function to its well-established sun awnings. Developed in cooperation with specialist Lange Yacht Misting, the new system combines sun protection and natural air cooling in a premium, fully integrated solution.

Anyone who has stood beneath a parasol in the city knows how different it feels from walking through a cool forest. That very sensation is what the new system brings on board: a gentle, refreshing breeze that lowers the ambient temperature. Specially engineered misting tubes have been seamlessly integrated into the multiplex sun awnings. By releasing finely atomised water, the system creates a tangible cooling effect through natural evaporative cooling. The result is a noticeably pleasant microclimate on deck, even in extreme heat – ideal for hot days in the Mediterranean, the Caribbean or the Middle East.

Visually, the new misting function is virtually undetectable. Hoses, pipes and connections are fully integrated into the carbon elements and remain completely hidden. The sun awning systems are factory-fitted with the required pipework and specially developed Lange Marine nozzles, ensuring that the entire system blends seamlessly into the deck design while remaining almost invisible. Ease of use is unchanged.
“This development is another step towards positioning our carbon sun protection systems as a holistic comfort solution for superyachts. It directly addresses the growing demands of owners, captains and shipyards worldwide,” says Jan Reiners, CEO of multiplex.

The system was unveiled for the first time at METS in Amsterdam, where it attracted strong interest from shipyards, owner representatives and captains alike. www.multiplexgmbh.com.
