Mega-LightApr 3, 2017

LED lighting has changed how people enjoy the outdoors at night. Davis Instruments takes this innovation to a higher level with its Mega-Light. Two models provide bright, clear light, while only drawing 1/50th of an amp.

With their advanced, easy-to-replace LED bulbs and high-output circuit boards, Mega-Lights are so efficient, they'll run for 2,000 hours—over 80 days—on a fully charged 12 volt car battery. They even feature a light sensor that turns them on automatically when it gets dark.

Rugged Mega-Lights are built for the outdoors. They're 100% waterproof with an O-ring seal. The Fresnel lens projects light an impressive 2 nm/2.3 mi., and an included 320 mA bulb provides the option for twice that illumination. While not USCG approved, Mega-Light is commonly used in addition to an anchor light. This allows dinghy operators looking forward in the dark to see its illumination.

Perfect for boaters, anglers, RVers or anyone with a 12V DC outlet, the Mega-Light Utility light comes with a UL-approved, 15' heavy-duty cord with fused plug and hanging bracket. An incandescent bulb is included for softer lighting.

The Mega-Light Masthead is perfect for use as a navigation, interior or security light. It comes with a stainless-steel bracket to mount to a mast or bulkhead, or inside an engine compartment. With six #10 holes and two key-way slots, it offers a wide variety of installation options, and even comes ready for use with a Davis Windex. It's pre-wired with a 12" lead.

BOATING ONTARIO RECOGNIZES BIC'S ANDY ADAMS

This year’s Boating Ontario is special for several reasons. It is the organization’s 50th anniversary and Andy Adams, who is managing editor of Canadian Yachting as well as online editor of Boating Industry Canada, is the first member of the media to receive the honour. Notable was that the presentation itself was made by Andrew Robertson, grandson of W.J Robertson. READ MORE

METSTRADE KEYNOTE BY MARK D SCHWABERO - GROWTH GOOD, BUT THE WORLD IS CHANGING

Mark Swabero Metstrade2017 400The keynote speaker of the 30th anniversary METSTRADE Show Breakfast Briefing, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of US-based Brunswick Corporation, Mark D Schwabero, set the tone of his talk by reminding a packed audience in RAI Amsterdam on the morning of November 15, of the need for companies to evolve continually to meet changing market opportunities.

Schwabero provided a brief glimpse into how Brunswick had evolved over its 172-year history, from making billiard tables, to being the world’s largest record recording company with Al Jolson on its board, to the $4.5bn company it is today, with 80 per cent earnings in marine and 20 per cent in the fitness market.
