NEW SNAME TECHNICAL REPORT SETS GUIDELINES FOR COST-EFFECTIVE USE OF TITANIUM SEAWATER PIPING
SNAME has published a new technical report with guidelines for using titanium seawater piping in shipboard marine structures to provide long economical life, reduce maintenance and offer weight and space savings.
A Guide for Using Titanium in Seawater Piping in Large Shipboard/Marine Systems summarizes special considerations, choices and lessons learned appropriate for the design, fabrication, construction and testing to enhance economic success and to help in keeping the shipboard design and fabrication costs to a minimum.
The guide is based on experience and lessons learned during the design, fabrications, installation testing and operation of six large ships with hybrid titanium sea water piping systems.
A Guide for Using Titanium in Seawater Piping in Large Shipboard/Marine Systems was written by Fred Kriedt, John Mountford II, and Milton Scaturro and approved by SNAME Technical & Research Committee on Ships Machinery Chaired by Richard Delpizzo.
