AkzoNobel’s Interlux® is once again the sponsor of the “I Built It Myself” trailerable wooden boat competition at the WoodenBoat Show. This year’s event will be held June 26-28 on the village green at Mystic Seaport in Mystic, Connecticut.

“I Built It Myself” annually attracts as many as 50 beautifully crafted boats and proud owners/builders. In previous years, the collection has included kayaks, skiffs, daysailers, canoes and much more by a variety of designers such as Iain Oughtred, Joel White, Chesapeake Light Craft, Arch Davis and William & John Atkin.

Also at the WoodenBoat Show, the experts from AkzoNobel will be hand to brief visitors and answer questions about Interlux products specially formulated for wooden boats, including Schooner® and Brightside® Polyurethane.

Schooner® Varnish combines the very best of classic, varnish craftsmanship with the newest technology. Schooner® Varnish contains ultra-violet filters to screen the sun’s damaging rays for remarkable durability, excellent water resistance and silky application. Superior self-leveling property and a bright, clear, high gloss yields a pristine finish with the traditional golden color.

Brightside® Polyurethane is a hard, high gloss one-part polyurethane topside finish. Excellent application characteristics yield that “sprayed on” look when brush applied in thin coats and is ideal for use anywhere above the true waterline. Available in a range of bright, crisp colors, Brightside Polyurethane is easy to clean, resists staining and has great abrasion resistance.
