INVASIVE SPECIES TOOL SHARING
Mar 20, 2016
The Early Detection & Rapid Response (EDRR) Network Ontario project, co-delivered by the ISC & Ontario Invasive Plant Council, has developed a toolkit to catalyse invasive species action in Ontario. To support the work of volunteers, tool kits are available to rent for FREE in each pilot area. They are housed at the Sault Ste. Marie Region Conservation Authority (Sault Ste. Marie), EcoSuperior (Thunder Bay), and the Ontario Invasive Plant Council for access by southern Ontarians. The toolkits include the necessary Personal Protective Equipment, resources, and tools such as shovels, gloves, shears, saws, yard waste bags, and weed wrenches to help make invasive plant removal easy, effective, and convenient!
This spring, the Tool Share Program will provide you with the equipment needed to lead, or take part in, local invasive species projects in your neighbourhood, park, or backyard. Consider renting a toolkit to organize an invasive species control project such as a weed pull, or a remediation project which may involve replanting native species. The Tool Share Program aims to ramp up rapid response efforts and limit the spread of invasive species in communities across Ontario.
