MARINE SERVICE TECHNICIAN – NOVA SCOTIA

Work continues to create the Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Program for Marine Service Technicians in Nova Scotia. In order for a Marine Dealership to hire an apprentice, they need to have a Certified Marine Service Technician on staff. Section 30 of the General Regulations and Trades Qualifications Act make provision for persons other than registered apprentices to be examined for certification. If a technician has extensive hands-on experience as a Marine Service Technician and can prove that their skills and work experience meet the standards set, they may be able to apply under the Trade Qualification program to write the Certification Exam.

AMTA  has created a booklet on how to Challenge the Marine Service Technician Certification.

Please contact the AMTA office if you would like a copy either digital or paper.
